Imran, Jhenaidah Correspondent: A human chain and a silent procession took place in Jhenaidah, with participants wearing black cloths over their faces to protest against the persecution of journalists nationwide, including the murder of journalist Tuhin in Gazipur, while demanding justice.
The event was organized by the Jhenaidah Multimedia Journalists Association at the Post Office intersection in the city on Sunday morning. Members of the Multimedia Journalists Association, along with leaders from various social and cultural organizations, participated in the event, dressed in black cloths and holding banners and festoons.
The protest was led by the convener of the organization, journalist MR Russell, and attended by Sheikh Emon, the member secretary of the Jhenaidah Multimedia Journalists Association, Amirul Islam Liton, the general secretary of the Jhenaidah Press Club, MA Kabir, the president of the Jhenaidah Reporters Unit, and journalists Samrat Hossain, Sujan Biplob, M Burhan Uddin, SA Enam, SM Robi, along with Shahinur Rahman Liton, director of Morning Bell Children Academy, Rail Abdullah, Jahan Limon, and others. Leaders from various socio-cultural organizations in Jhenaidah also joined the protest to show their support.
The program called for justice for those involved in the murder of journalists and urged an end to all forms of harassment, false accusations, and oppression against journalists throughout the country. Following the human chain, a procession was held starting from the Post Office intersection, which moved through several streets of the city and concluded at the Modern intersection.
