Awami League Leader Abducted by Posing DB Agents

Imran Jhenaidah Correspondent: Shamim Hossain Molla, who serves as the Joint General Secretary of Shailkupa Upazila in Jhenaidah and is also the President of Jubo League, was taken from his residence at night by a group of armed individuals posing as members of the Detective Branch (DB). They forcibly abducted Shamim Hossain without presenting any legal documentation.

According to family members, the kidnappers contacted them from an unknown number during the night, demanding a ransom of 50 lakh taka and threatening to kill them if the payment was not made. They swiftly collected the money and proceeded to the specified location. However, the kidnappers encountered resistance from law enforcement at a checkpoint in the Makshedpur area of Gopalganj. After this confrontation, they abandoned Shamim Hossain and fled the scene.

Fortunately, he was later rescued unharmed with the assistance of law enforcement and returned home in the morning. Upon learning of his return, hundreds of leaders and activists flocked to his residence, creating significant tension and anxiety in the vicinity.

At present, Shamim Hossain Molla continues to hold the position of Joint General Secretary of Shailkupa Upazila Awami League and President of Jubo League. Shailkupa Police Station OC Masum Khan has verified the authenticity of the incident.
