BGMEA Cuts Prices on Every Service

BM Desk : Prices for all services provided to its member firms have been reduced by BGMEA, the trade group that represents exporters and makers of ready-made clothing. This choice was taken at the newly elected committee’s first board meeting. The new president of the organization, Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu, presided over the June 23 meeting, which was held at the BGMEA building in the capital city of Uttara.

BGMEA offers a range of import-export-related services to its member factories. Certain services, such as the Utilization Declaration (UD) for importing raw materials, are provided by BGMEA on behalf of the government. Following the board’s decision, the fee for a general UD certificate has been reduced to Tk 475, down from Tk 630. The fee for the emergency UD service has been decreased from Tk 930 to Tk 700. Additionally, the fee for a general export permit certificate has been lowered from Tk 300 to Tk 225, and in emergency situations, from Tk 500 to Tk 375.

In terms of incentive-related services, the fee for certificates associated with the receipt of alternative cash assistance has been raised to Tk 750 from Tk 1,000. For special cash assistance, the fee has been reduced from Tk 200 to Tk 150 for exports up to $25,000. For exports exceeding $600,000, the fee has been cut from Tk 10,000 to Tk 7,500. The service fee for certificates related to cash assistance for new market expansion has been decreased from Tk 25,000 to Tk 50,000, which was previously Tk 2,000. For exports surpassing $500,000, the service fee has been increased to Tk 15,000 from Tk 20,000. Various other services have also seen fee reductions at different rates..
