Panchagarh Correspondent: During the long holiday of Eid-ul-Azha, customers holding ATM cards of Sonali Bank PLC in Panchagarh have suffered as they were unable to withdraw any money.
It is known that there are a total of 3 ATM booths under Sonali Bank PLC in Panchagarh district. Among them, one is adjacent to the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Panchagarh, Sonali Bank. One is located below the Panchagarh office and the other ATM booth is located on the ground floor of the Modern Clinic in Boda Upazila.
On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, there is a long official holiday from Thursday, June 5 to Saturday, June 14. Before the holiday, many government officials, employees and teachers were unable to withdraw their salary. They were hopeful that they would be able to withdraw money at the Sonali Bank ATM booth. But due to network problems, many customers were in extreme trouble as ATM card holders were unable to withdraw any money at the booth.
Widow Mukta, a resident of Barrister Bazar in Panchagarh Sadar, said – She went to withdraw her husband’s retirement money on Thursday (June 5) before Eid with her Sonali Bank ATM card. But after trying for a long time, she could not withdraw any money. Later, she borrowed some money from a niece and spent the Eid shopping.
School teacher Asgar said, after the closure of Sonali Bank, she received salary messages. On Friday, the day before Eid, she could not withdraw money despite many attempts at the ATM booths of Panchagarh Sonali Bank and the DC office. On Thursday after Eid, when she went to the Sonali Bank booth in Boda Upazila to withdraw money again, the security guard said there was no money. In this way, many teachers could not withdraw their salary money.
General customers complain that we have to face this misery due to the negligence of the bank. However, they deduct a fixed fee every year for ATM card services. But in times of trouble, I cannot withdraw money from the booth with this card.
