B Mirror Desk : The beneficiary owner’s (BO) account maintenance cost would now only be Tk 150 instead of Tk 450, under the decision of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC).
At a commission meeting today in the capital’s BSEC building, the stock market regulator made the decision in principle. For a long time, stock market participants have been calling for the maintenance charge to be lowered.
The securities regulator lowered the charge for each BO account from Tk 500 to Tk 450 in 2016.The stock exchange’s investors’ protection fund would receive a quarter of the interest revenue from consolidated clients’ accounts, according to a decision made by the regulator today.
The remaining interest revenue will be available for use by brokers.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (Commodity Derivatives) Regulations, 2025, were also passed by the BSEC during today’s meeting, enabling the port city bourse to begin commodity market activities shortly.
