Biman to halt Dhaka-Narita flights from July 1

B Mirror Desk : Biman Bangladesh Airlines has announced the cessation of its direct flights on the Dhaka-Narita route, starting July 1. This decision is attributed to operational challenges related to ongoing Hajj activities, a lack of available aircraft in the fleet, and concerns regarding the route’s financial sustainability, according to a press release from the airline.

Passengers who have already booked tickets for flights on or after July 1 will be entitled to a full refund or a ticket reissuance at no extra cost. Affected travelers are encouraged to reach out to their respective sales offices, ticket counters, or authorized agents for assistance with refunds or rebooking. Biman had previously resumed its Dhaka-Narita flights on September 1, 2023, with the goal of creating a profitable direct air connection between Bangladesh and Japan.

However, the airline has faced financial losses on this route due to a significant decline in passenger numbers since its inception. The Dhaka-Tokyo service was previously suspended in 2006 due to similar commercial viability issues and aircraft shortages, as noted by aviation experts.
