Magura Correspondent: Md. Nasirul Islam (Bablu) : (May 05): A total of 34,067 hectares of land brought under jute cultivation in four upazils of Magura district in the current season.
According to The Departmemt of Agriculture Extension(DAE) , jute is being cultivated on 10,200 hectares of land in sadar upazila, 9,100 hectares in Sreepur upazila, 3,800 hectares in shalikha upazila, 10,250 hectares in Mohammadpur upazila of the district.
The jute production target has been set 4,52,410 bales . To increase the interest of farmers in jute cultivation,the amount of incentive support and the number of farmers have increased significantly in the district, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Md.Tajul Islam said.
He also said, jute seeds and fertilizer were given among 5,600 small and marginal farmers free of cost . All necessary support given to the farmers of the district to encourage them for cultivation jute.
