B Mirror Desk : Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus concluded his week-long engagements in Doha and Rome, returning home early Monday morning. His flight landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 3 AM. On Saturday, Yunus attended the funeral mass of Pope Francis at St.
Peter’s Square in Vatican City. Accompanying him were SDGs Affairs Principal Coordinator Lamiya Morshed and Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, who joined him in honoring the late Pope, whom Prof Yunus described as an ‘incredible’ individual.
On April 25, the Chief Adviser traveled directly to Rome to pay tribute to his longtime friend. Following the funeral, senior Catholic Church leaders, Cardinal Silvano Maria Tomasi and Cardinal Jacob Koovakad, met with Prof Yunus, expressing their gratitude for his lifelong commitment to combating poverty and acknowledging his close friendship with the late Pope.
