H.M. Imran, Jhenaidah: BSF shot dead a young man named Obaidur Rahman inside India, across the Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah.

The body was recovered by Indian police from a place called Madhupur in 24 Parganas district of India on Sunday morning. The deceased, Obaidur, is the son of Hanef Mondal of Gopalpur village in Maheshpur upazila.

Locals said that last night, 7/8 people from Gopalpur village of Maheshpur upazila illegally went to India. They came across the BSF at around 1:30 am. At that time, the BSF opened fire on them. Then they escaped and entered Bangladesh again. But two people including Obaidur Rahman could not come. Obaidur Rahman was caught by the BSF. The BSF wrapped him in a sack and after inhuman torture shot him dead.

In the morning, the residents of the area saw the body of a person lying in a place called Madhupur inside India. Sources said that the body could be that of Obaidur Rahman. The body was recovered by the police of Bagda police station in India. The news of the other person has not been received yet. However, nothing has been said about this from the BGB.
