Md. Nazrul Islam, Rajbari District Correspondent: In a police raid in Rajbari, a man named Miraz Khan (35) was arrested in connection with the attack on students in the anti-discrimination student movement. He is the son of Meher Ullah of Bhandaria village of Pachuria Union of Rajbari Sadar Upazila and General Secretary of Pachuria Union Jubo League.
Rajbari Sadar Thana police conducted a raid on Tuesday night and arrested him from his house in Bhandaria village.
Rajbari Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mahmudur Rahman said that on August 5 at 12:30 noon, students, parents, teachers and common people who were protesting under the banner of anti-discrimination student movement were attacked by native weapons at Goland intersection of Rajbari upazila. Firearms were fired at them indiscriminately. In their beating and firing by the accused, Zubaida Islam Sohana, Tushar Patwari, San Sardar, Triasha, Ayesha, Cynthia, Asma Khatun, Tawhid Rabib, Munna, Billal Hossain and many others were shot and injured. Later, on September 2, Md. Jisan Hossain Khan, son of Md. Tarekh Khan of Khankhanapur (Beparipara) village of Sadar Upazila, filed a case against 14 named defendants and 100-150 unknown persons.
He also said that the SI of Rajbari Sadar police station, Enayet Shikdar, along with the force conducted the operation in Bhandaria area of Rajbari Sadar police station. During the raid, the accused Pachuria Union Jubo League General Secretary Miraj Khan was arrested from his residence. The arrested accused was sent to Rajbari court on Wednesday.
