Standard Chartered and TMSS improve livelihood of around 100,000 farmers through quality inputs and technical support

Standard Chartered Bangladesh has completed a wide range of agricultural initiatives in partnership with Thengamara Mohila Sabuj Sangha (TMSS) in Bogura, Gaibandha, Rangpur, Joypurhat, Sirajganj, Patuakhali, Pabna and Faridpur. These initiatives are driving productivity across rural farming communities by providing beneficiaries with innovative, climate-adaptive farming practises, a variety of seeds, machineries and other technical support. Standard Chartered Bangladesh contributed more than BDT 63 million to implement these initiatives.

Around 100,000 farmers have directly benefited through these programmes. A total of 300 polyhouses were established to drive high value sapling production. Additionally,1500 kg vegetable seed and 300 kg watermelon seed were distributed among farmers as quality input support. The programmes also helped to utilise 280 hectares of mostly fallow land for onion cultivation and 330 hectares of  land for sunflower production. Overall 125,000 trees were planted throughout these initiatives to help support the livelihood of the farmers.

Thengamara Mohila Sabuj Sangha – also known as TMSS – is a Bangladeshi micro credit NGO.
