415 more returned from Saudi Arabia

Another 415 Bangladeshis have returned home from Dammam, Saudi Arabia. They arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on a chartered flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at 8:20 am on Wednesday (July 21).

Biman Bangladesh Airlines Deputy General Manager (Public Relations) Tahera Khandaker confirmed the information and said that no one has to stay in the institutional quarantine as the incoming passengers are traveling with Kavid-19 negative certificate.

Bangladeshis stranded in the country due to the outbreak of coronavirus have returned on this flight. They could not return to the country as flights were suspended.

Saudi Arabia also wants to repatriate about 5 to 10 lakh Bangladeshis. At the end of last April, the Bangladesh Embassy in Saudi Arabia informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In the middle of last month, Bangladesh agreed to bring back workers from Saudi Arabia in a phone conversation between the two countries’ foreign ministers.

When the Saudi and Bangladesh governments took a joint initiative, Biman Bangladesh Airlines operated a chartered flight and brought them back to their country. Among the returnees are Saudi expatriate Bangladeshi workers.
