Pakistan high commissioner meets with foreign secretary

Diplomatic Correspondent: Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh H.E. Syed Ahmed Maroof met with newly appointed Foreign Secretary Md. Jashim Uddin at the foreign ministry on Thursday. 

The Pakistan envoy Syed Ahmed Maroof congratulated the Foreign Secretary on assuming his new responsibilities at the time of courtesy meeting.

FS Md. Jashim Uddin also conveyed his thanks for the congratulatory message from the Pakistan Prime Minister to Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser. He also discussed the background of the recent mass uprising and priorities of the Interim Government.

Both the sides discussed about holding the next round of Foreign Secretary Level Consultations. The two sides also underscored the importance of regional organizations and in this context discussed about tapping potentials of SAARC.

Strengthening cooperation in the areas like trade, commerce, enhancing people-to-people contacts and the Rohingya issue also featured in their discussion.
