Capital decreased by 16 thousand crores in last week.

Average trading in the country’s main stock exchange Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) in the outgoing week (August 18 to August 22) fell by more than half compared to the previous week. Besides, DSE lost more than 2 percent capital during the period under discussion. At the same time, negative trends were seen in all DSE indices.

According to sources, an average of Tk 624 crore 41 lakh was transacted on DSE every working day throughout the week. In the previous week, the average daily transaction was Tk 1,282,220,000. That is, the average transaction per working day has decreased by 51.30 percent or 657 crore 81 lakh taka.

According to the data, at the end of the week, the market capitalization of DSE stood at Tk 692,831,800,000. The market capitalization on the last working day of last week was Tk 7 lakh 8 thousand 964 crore 40 lakh. In other words, the market capitalization of DSE has decreased by 2.28 percent or 16 thousand 132 crores within a week.

The total transaction in DSE during the farewell week was Tk 3 thousand 122 crore 5 lakh. Last week total transaction was 6 thousand 411 crore 12 lakh taka. That is, the transaction has decreased by 3 thousand 289 crore 7 lakh taka within a week.

The DSE index showed a downward trend during the week under discussion. At this time, the main price index DSEX decreased by 203.92 points. The DSE-30 index fell by 88.76 points. And the DSES index fell by 45.64 points.

A total of 394 company shares and mutual fund units were traded on DSE during the week. Among them, the price of 32 companies increased, 357 companies decreased and the share price of 5 companies remained unchanged.
