The price of sugar has decreased by Tk 10 per kg.

After the fall of the Awami League government in the popular uprising of students, the price of sugar has decreased in the country. Where earlier sugar was sold at 135 taka per kg at retail, now it is being sold from 125 taka to 127 taka. In other words, per kg of sugar has decreased from 8 to 10 taka.

Similarly, the price of sugar has decreased in the wholesale market as well. This is said by the Joint Secretary of Bangladesh Sugar Dealers Association. Anwar Hossain Chowdhury.

Anwar Hossain Chowdhury said that sugar is currently being sold at Tk 118 to Tk 120 per kg according to the company in the wholesale market of Chittagong. Sugar prices have fallen since August 5. Earlier, wholesale sugar was sold from Tk 122 to Tk 125 per kg. On the other hand, government sugar is being sold at the millgate at Tk 125. This price has remained the same for a long time. However, the price of sugar has decreased in the international market as well. Accordingly, the price of sugar in the country should have been further reduced.
