Masroor Riaz’s doesn’t accept responsibility as BSEC chairman.

The capital market regulatory body Bangladesh Securities Exchange Commission (BSEC) has expressed his inability to accept the responsibility of the chairman. M. Masroor Riaz. In a statement today Saturday (August 17), Masroor Riaz thanked the interim government for appointing him as BSEC chairman. He said, at the moment, he only wants to work as an economist.

In the statement, Masroor Riaz said, ‘At this important time of the country, I think I can work on a larger scale for the country and economy from my current position as an economist. As an economist, there is an opportunity to contribute to effective policy formulation and implementation of reforms for the welfare of the country’s economy through policy analysis, reform strategies and dialogue on the overall economy, particularly trade, investment, and the financial sector. In consideration of these, I have decided not to accept the responsibility as the chairman of BSEC. Earlier on Tuesday (August 13), Masroor Riaz was appointed as the chairman of BSEC by the Financial Institutions Department of the Ministry of Finance. But his joining BSEC was stalled due to allegations against him.

Then the financial adviser. Salehuddin Ahmed Masroor has decided to look into the allegations leveled against Riaz. Then the final decision will be taken.
