Faruk Magura Correspondent :Health assistants in Magura hold sit-in in front of Civil Surgeon’s Office to implement 6-point demands
A sit-in program was held in front of the Civil Surgeon’s Office in Magura to achieve the six-point demands of health assistants. The sit-in program was held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 9 am with health assistants from four upazilas of Magura Sadar, Sreepur, Shalikha and Mohammadpur.
A sit-in program was held by health assistants demanding the speedy implementation of their demands, including amending the appointment rules of field-level health assistants proposed by the Department of Health in Magura, granting 14th grade by adding graduation or equivalent, and upgrading 11th grade through in-service diploma training, granting technical ranks, and successively providing the next higher grade in case of promotion. The 6-point demands of health assistants were organized by the Bangladesh Health Assistant Association Magura District Branch in front of the office of the Magura (CS) Civil Surgeon Officer as part of the central program.
Bangladesh Health Assistant Association Magura District President Nazrul Islam, General Secretary Md. Nazmul Hossain, Magura Sadar Upazila Branch President Md. Salahuddin, among others, spoke. The speakers said in their speeches
The 6 demands of health assistants are: 1. Amending the recruitment rules and providing graduation/equivalent and 14th grade.
2. Granting technical ranks including granting 11th grade to those who have obtained In-Service Diploma Training Certificate.
3. In case of promotion, the next higher grade must be consistently ensured.
4. Even though Health Assistants, Assistant Health Inspectors, and Health Inspectors were appointed under the previous recruitment rules, all of them will have to undergo training at the untrained graduation level.
5. The number of time scales (1/2/3)/higher scales (1/2) obtained by the Health Assistant/Assistant Health Inspector/Health Inspector before the salary scale upgrade/re-fixation should be added to the upgraded/re-fixed salary scale.
6. Health Assistants/Assistant Health Inspectors/Health Inspectors who have previously completed the In-Service Diploma (SIT) course will be considered as equivalent to completing the diploma.
