Social Islami Bank on October 29, 2024 sacked 579 officials illegally appointed by S Alam Group to establish good governance in the banking sector. As per the Service Rules of the Bank and Clause Ten of the Appointment Letter, the Bank reserves the right to dismiss any officer at any time without notice during the Apprenticeship period. In that context, these illegal recruits were fired.
Later, a majority of the dismissed officers applied to the bank demanding reinstatement. Following their application, a hearing was arranged with each of them at the head office of the bank. After the hearing, the management authority gave them a letter stating that full employment is not possible. After receiving this letter, the sacked officers have been trying to create chaos by standing in front of the bank’s head office since December 29 and have been standing in front of the bank continuously. As a result of which the customers of the bank are being harassed and the normal movement of the general public is being hindered. It should be noted that this type of activity in front of Motijheel’s highest building, City Center, is also obstructing the normal movement of the officials and employees of other offices located in this building.
It is also to be noted that around 2000 officers of Patia area are still working in SIBL after receiving irregular appointments. With the help of these officials and with the help of S Alam group, these dismissed officials are creating a chaotic situation. Their action is a threat to the banking sector as well as the state. If the administration does not take prompt action, major accidents may occur. The law enforcement agencies were informed in this regard through a letter and they informed that they will take effective action in this regard soon. Chairman of Social Islami Bank Prof. Dr. When contacted M Sadiqul Islam FCMA, he said that the officials appointed by S Alam Group were fired illegally according to the terms of the appointment letter with the aim of establishing good governance in the banking sector. It is very sad that under the patronage of Dosar S. Alam of the erstwhile fascist government, they are creating chaos by creating such anarchy which is a threat to the state and the general public as well as bank customers are being harassed as a result, which is not desirable at all.
It is to be noted that the state-sponsored S Alam group created extreme anarchy in the country’s banking sector through gross corruption. While Bangladesh Bank is taking positive and commendable steps in reforming the banking sector, a group supported by S Alam is once again active in creating anarchy.
