3300 crore loan fraud of Islami Bank

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has written to Bangladesh Bank and 11 companies of Nabil Group regarding the Tk 3,300 crore loan fraud of Islami Bank listed in the stock market.

In the ACC’s letter, on December 22, 2022, it has been asked to give details about the loan fraud of Islami Bank.

In the letter, the owner of United Super Traders of Asadganj, Chittagong. It is necessary to review the records and information about the said loans in order to properly investigate the allegations of money embezzlement of Islami Bank against Golam Kibria Chowdhury and others.

In the letter, the customers of Chittagong Chaktai Islami Bank branch M/s Murad Enterprises and its subsidiaries, the customers of Jubilee Road branch of Islami Bank United Super Traders and its subsidiaries, the customers of Islami Bank Khatunganj Corporate Branch, Century Food Products Ltd., and its subsidiaries, Gulshan Corporate Branch of Islami Bank in Rajshahi and Necessary records have been sought during the investigation into the loan fraud of 11 institutions, customers of Nabil Group, customers of Newmarket Branch, Rajshahi and Pabna Branch, Pabna.

ACC Deputy Director Yasir Arafat said that apart from Bangladesh Bank, letters have been sent to these institutions involved in loan fraud.
