3-day National Fruit Fair begins in Jhenaidah

Imran Jhenaidah Correspondent : A 3-day National Fruit Fair has commenced in Jhenaidah under the theme ‘Consume more local fruits, let’s cultivate fruit trees’.

The fair was officially opened at the District Agricultural Extension Department’s office on Thursday morning. Shashti Chandra Roy, the Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, chaired the event, with Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Awal serving as the chief guest. Special guests included Superintendent of Police Manjur Morshed, District Animal Resources Officer Dr. ASM Atiquzzaman, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Razia Akhter Chowdhury, and Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Nur-e Nabi. The welcome address was delivered by Selim Reza, the Additional Deputy Director of the District Agricultural Extension Department. Five stalls have been set up at this fair, organized by the Department of Agricultural Extension, showcasing approximately fifty varieties of local fruits along with advanced fruit cultivation technologies. The fair is scheduled to conclude on June 21. The organizers are optimistic that such initiatives will significantly contribute to enhancing domestic fruit production and raising consumer awareness.
