The first working day of the week, Sunday (June 28), ended with the rise in the price index of the country’s main stock market Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE). However, the volume of transactions on the DSE has increased compared to the previous day.
Shares and units worth Tk 2,543 crore 25 lakh 52 thousand were traded on the DSE today. This is the highest turnover in the capital market in the last 9 and a half years.
Today, 2,469 crore 26 lakh 41 thousand taka has been traded in the block market. Of this, only GlaxoSmithKline alone had a turnover of Tk 2,225.36 crore.
Meanwhile, GlaxoSmithKline, the parent company of GlaxoSmithKline Bangladesh, has approved the sale of Set First Limited shares in the United Kingdom. As part of this, Overseas Holdings BV, a subsidiary of Unilever, will buy 96,65,144 shares in their hands within 30 working days. Shares of the company were traded on the block market today.
According to the market analysis, today the DSE main or DSEX index has risen by 4 points to 3,099 points and the DSE-30 index has risen by 0.1 point to 1,331 points. Besides, the DSES or Shariah index has risen by 2 points to 921 points.
Shares of 291 companies and mutual funds traded on the DSE today. Of these, 44 have increased, 12 have decreased and 235 have remained unchanged.
