Coast Guard seizes illegal drugs on Shahpari Island, Koira

A team of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) seized 466 cans of beer and 81 bottles of foreign liquor in an operation on Shahpari Island; they also captured a person with 790 pieces of Yabas in Khulna’s Koira.

According to the BCG, a special operation was conducted in the Shahpari area under Teknaf Thana on Tuesday based on secret information; they informed that drugs would be smuggled through the Mistri Para area adjacent to Shahpari Island.

During the operation, the movements of some suspicious persons could be observed in the area adjacent to Shahpari’s Dwip Mistry Para embankment. The suspects quickly fled to a nearby locality after sensing the presence of Coast Guard members. Later, 466 cans of Andaman Gold Beer and 81 bottles of foreign liquor were seized from eight sacks hidden in the forest nearby by barrage by Coast Guard members.

The seized beer and foreign liquor were handed over to the Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal action.

On the other hand, on the basis of secret information, a special operation was conducted by BCG Station Koira under Bangladesh Coast Guard West Zone on Monday in Gharilal Bazar area under Koira police station in Khulna district. A person named Sheikh Shimul Hossain-24 was arrested along with 790 pieces of Yabas in the operation. The arrested person is a resident of Satkhira district.

The seized Yaba and the detained person were handed over to the Koira police station for further legal action.
