Sweden wins “1st Independence Diplomatic Cup” Tennis Tournament-2024

MM Rahmatullah: Sweden wins “1st Independence Diplomatic Cup” Tennis Tournament-2024, where Denmark’s team became Runnersup.
The prize giving ceremony was held at the State guest house Meghna on Sunday evening. Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud was present at the prize giving ceremony as chief guest, while Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen was present as special guest.
Secretary (MAU) Rear Admiral (Retd) Md Khurshed Alam, British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke, Danish Ambassador, Sweden Ambassador, Acting Australian High Commissioner and senior diplomats were present during the prize giving ceremony.
No need to mention that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs launched the “1st Independence Diplomatic Cup” Tennis Tournament-2024 on 2nd March evening and Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen inaugurated the event. Diplomats from 13 embassies and international organizations in Dhaka, as well as teams from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are participating in the tournament to promote diplomatic kinship through the spirit of sportsmanship.
The participating teams were – Australia, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Pakistan, Russia, Spain, Sweden, UK, USA, ADB, UN and Padma, Meghna, Jamuna (three from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
Feature of the tournament only doubles matches to showcase the athletic abilities and sportsmanship of diplomats representing their respective countries and organizations.
Participants didn’t only compete on the tennis court but also engage in cultural exchanges, diplomatic discussions and experiencing Bangladeshi cuisines, creating an environment conducive to building connections.
