Shibir’s Sadiq VP, Farhad GS

In the Dhaka University Central Student Union (DUCSU) election, candidates supported by Chhatra Shibir, Md. Abu Sadiq (Sadiq Kayem) for the position of VP, SM Farhad for the position of GS, and Mohiuddin Khan for the position of AGS, were victorious.

On Wednesday, September 10, about 8:30 am, DUCSU Chief Election Commissioner Professor Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin made the results public in the DU Senate Building. At the time, there were more election commissioners present.

According to the results, Md. Abu Sadiq (Sadiq Kayem), the vice presidential candidate of the United Students Alliance, who was supported by Chhatra Shibir, won with 14,042 votes. Abidul Islam Khan of the Chhatra Dal, his closest opponent, received 5,708 votes. Umama Fatima, an independent, received 3,389 votes. Shamim Hossain, another independent, received 3,884 votes.

For the GS position, SM Farhad, representing the United Students Alliance with support from Chhatra Shibir, secured victory with 10,794 votes. His nearest competitor, Tanvir Bari Hamim from Chhatra Dal, received 5,283 votes. Meanwhile, Meghmallar Basu from the Resistance Council garnered 4,949 votes.

In the AGS race, Muha. Mohiuddin Khan of the United Students Alliance, backed by Chhatra Shibir, triumphed with 11,772 votes. Chhatra Dal’s candidate for AGS, Tanvir Al Hadi Mayed, obtained 5,064 votes. The AGS candidate from the Anti-Discrimination Students’ Parliament, Ashrefah Khatun, received 900 votes.

Notably, there were 471 candidates vying for 28 positions in DUCSU this time. Elections were conducted for 13 positions in the 18 Hall Parliament. Additionally, there were 1,035 candidates competing for 234 positions in the Hall Parliament.

The total number of voters in DUCSU this time was 39,874. Of these, 18,959 were female and 13 were male, with 20,915 voters.

Voting began at 8 am on Tuesday (September 9) and ended at 4 pm.
