Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited (SJIBL) organized a seminar on raising social awareness for remittance in the district of Tangail on Saturday to encourage the use of legal channels of expatriate income.
The program was attended by approximately 35 participants, who were all wage earners and their family members. The objective of the program was to encourage people in Tangail to receive remittances from abroad through formal and legal means instead of informal means like hundi.
The Additional Managing Director of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC, Akhter Hossain, was present as a chief guest in the program. The Assistant Director of the Financial Inclusion Department of Bangladesh Bank, Shamim Al Mamun, also attended the program as an observer from the side of the regulatory body.
Among others, the Head of the International Division of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC, Abdul Majid, the Manager of the Tangail Branch, Mr. Md. Abdul Khaleque, the AVP from the CHO of the Financial Inclusion Unit, Manzur Rahman, and the In-Charge of Foreign Remittance, Shawkat Hossain, were also present in the program.
All speakers emphasized the increase in remittances through legal and formal channels for the greater good of the national economy.
