Proton officially launches the X70 assembled in Bangladesh

The Proton X70, which was initially built in Bangladesh, has been formally introduced by Rancon Cars Limited. In doing so, Rancon Auto has ushered in a new era for the nation’s auto industry.

The launch took place at the Rancon showroom of Proton Bangladesh in the capital city of Tejgaon on Wednesday, April 30. The Proton X70 will go on sale today at Proton’s approved shops in Chittagong and Dhaka. Every vehicle is covered by a 5-year or 1,50,000-kilometer warranty, which can be obtained from Rangs Workshop, Tejgaon (Dhaka), and Sholashahar (Chittagong), Proton’s approved service centers.

The launch of the Proton X70 in Bangladesh is an important milestone. This is the first Proton X70 assembled in the country. The car is being manufactured at Rancon Auto Industries Limited located in Rancon Industrial Park, Kashimpur, Gazipur, Bhabanipur. As a result, the X70 is now available in the market as a ‘Proudly Made in Bangladesh’ car. This C-segment SUV is now available at Proton’s Dhaka and Chittagong showrooms and will be showcased at the 18th Dhaka Motor Show 2025.

The Proton X70 is a C-segment compact crossover SUV with an attractive and eye-catching design. It features Proton’s signature ‘Infinite Weave’ grille, which creates a strong and distinct identity at the front of the car. The car features Intelligent High Beam Control (IHBC) headlamps, Daylight Running Lamps (DRLs), auto rain-sensing wipers and a panoramic sunroof, which bring an open and comfortable feel to the cabin. The car also features stylish 19-inch alloy rims and 200 mm ground clearance, which makes it even more powerful.

The car has a touchscreen infotainment system, where the car’s features can be controlled with voice commands (high Proton). It has online navigation, music streaming, weather updates, smartphone connectivity, 6 USB ports, keyless entry, drive mode selection, 360-degree camera and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). The Proton X70 has a 1.5-liter turbocharged TGDI (TGDI) petrol engine. There is a 7-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT), along with a manual mode, which makes gear changes smooth and fast.

To ensure safety and a comfortable journey, the Proton X70 has been added with Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). Keeping in mind the uncertain and complex traffic conditions of Bangladesh, Proton has brought this system. The car has Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), which automatically controls the speed while driving in traffic jams and stops the car if necessary. For additional safety, there is a Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW), which will reduce the risk of accidents during sudden lane changes or overtaking on busy or narrow roads or highways.

Md. Badiuzzaman, Executive Director of Rancon Auto Industries Limited, spoke at the ceremony and stated: “We are extremely happy to be the first in Bangladesh to assemble the Proton X70 while also upholding international standards. Every vehicle produced here demonstrates our dedication to upholding global standards, which, in my opinion, will fundamentally alter the nation’s auto sector.”

The demand for high-end SUVs is rising right now, and Proton is prepared to take the lead in Bangladesh’s automotive sector, Md. said during the ceremony. Proton X70 introduces cutting-edge design and technology through international partnerships, particularly with companies like Volvo and Lotus. Mostafizur Rashid stated, “I think that assembling a top-notch SUV locally is a significant step towards making it more accessible in our market Bhuiyan.
