PM receives Kalabati Saree from Bandarban handicrafts women  

Deputy Commissioner of Bandarban Yasmin Parveen Tibriji gifted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with ‘Kalabati saree’ made from banana fiber and handicraft products.

On Monday (July 17) afternoon, the Prime Minister received Kalavati sarees and handicrafts made from the fibers of the banana tree in the cabinet room of the Prime Minister’s office.

According to the Prime Minister’s Press Wing, Bandarban Deputy Commissioner Yasmin Parveen Tibriji handed over three sarees made of banana fiber and two jewelery boxes to the Prime Minister.

It is also said that for the first time in the history of the country, the weaver Radhavati Devi of Moulvibazar prepared this saree of Manipuri design from the fiber of the banana tree. And Anjali Devi and Dutta Singh made three sarees gifted to the Prime Minister.

Besides, a model of a special Machang house suitable for shelter in hilly areas, district brand calendar and brand book were also handed over to the Prime Minister by the District Commissioner of Bandarban.
