Orix Bio-Tech Limited will work on biotechnology at ‘Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City’ in Kaliakair. For this purpose, 25 acres of land has been allotted to the company in Block-2. The company has said it will invest US$ 300 million in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City.
A tripartite agreement to this effect was signed at the ICT Tower auditorium in Agargaon on Tuesday (August 11th). State Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid MP was present as the chief guest at the signing ceremony. State Minister for ICT Junaid Ahmed Palak MP presided over the function.
With the implementation of this project, Bangladesh will go a long way in biotechnology, including $ 300 million in foreign investment and the creation of high-paying jobs for about 2,000 people. It is said in the presentation that this will contribute a lot in the implementation of Vision 2021. Orix Bio-Tech Limited will now invest ১০ 10 million.
Biotechnology is now widely used in the developed world (especially the United States, Europe, China, Japan). Bio-tech products are mainly produced from human plasma. These bio-tech drugs are now being used to treat HIV AIDS and cancer.
Orix Bio-Tech Limited wants to build a plant capable of analyzing 1200 tons of plasma per year in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City. With which 20 plasma collection stations will be connected. The organization has pledged to uphold the standards of the developed world, including the World Health Organization. Through this, bio-tech products will be easily available in the market of Bangladesh.
Speaking as the chief guest, State Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid MP said the role played by the ICT department in tackling Corona has been appreciated at all levels of the country. The ICT department has worked tirelessly to ensure the best use of technology to prevent coronary infections. The countrymen have benefited from many initiatives like Live Corona Test, Kavid-19 Tracker, Tele-Medicine and Telehealth, Comrade-Plasma Platform etc. From this, the picture of progress of ICT sector of a country is clear.
He said five companies have already started production there. The companies will work in the park with high technology such as mobile phone assembling and manufacturing, optical cable, hardware, software, data-center etc. Tk 328 crore has already been invested and about 13,000 people have been employed. We are hopeful that Tk 2,400 crore will be invested in high-tech parks by 2025.
David Bow, Managing Director of Orix Bio-Tech Limited was also present on the occasion.
