National University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Mshiur Rahman has said that teacher training will be given the highest priority in 2024.
In his speech at the closing ceremony of the subject-based teacher training program of the National University under the College Education Development Project (CEDIP) on Sunday, the vice-chancellor said, “We are entering a new year. Our goal is to bring teacher training to everyone’s doorstep. If we can change the entire education family of the National University, Bangladesh will change. Sustainable development will be ensured in the country. We will move forward with the scientists of the country at an unstoppable pace in the new year.”
The vice-chancellor also said that the university will provide ICT training to 5,000 teachers and pedagogy training to 5,000 teachers in the next one year.
The subject-based teacher training program began on December 4, 2023. A total of 466 teachers from colleges affiliated to the National University participated in the training. The training lasted for 28 days and concluded on December 31.
The closing ceremony was presided over by Dean of the Graduate School of Education, Training and Research, Professor Dr. Mohammad Bin Kashem. Special guests included Vice-Chancellor of National University, Professor Dr. Nizamuddin Ahmed, Treasurer Professor Abdul Salam Hawaldar, and Project Director (PD) of CEDIP, Mohammad Khaled Rahim.
Course advisors of 12 subjects delivered speeches at the training. They include: Course advisor of Geography and Environment Department, Dr. Md. Shahjahan Ali of Rajshahi University; Course advisor of History Department, Professor Dr. Mohammad Faruque Ahmed of Chittagong University; Course advisor of Political Science Department, Professor Dr. Md. Mahbubul Alam of Dhaka University; Course advisor of Economics Department, Professor Dr. Mohammad Shamsul Alam of Jahangirnagar University; Course advisor of Accounting Department, Professor Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman of Bangladesh University of Professionals.
Moreover, Course advisor of the Finance Department, Professor Dr. Md. Abdus Salam of University of Dhaka; Course advisor of Business Administration Department, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Awal of North South University; Course advisor of Mathematics Department, Professor Dr. Md. Lutful Kabir of Dhaka University; Course advisor of Physics Department, Professor Dr. Md. Mohiuddin Ahmed of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology; Course advisor of Chemistry Department, Professor Dr. Md. Anwarul Haque of University of Dhaka; and Course advisor of Biology Department, Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kalam of Jahangirnagar University.
The vice-chancellor urged all to cooperate in the new initiative. He said, “We will build the new generation as patriotic, skilled, developed, prosperous and global citizens through our collective efforts.”
