Mastercard, a global leader in payment technology, recognized 44 outstanding performers in the country’s financial ecosystem at the Mastercard Excellence Awards 2023. The ceremony, held at a hotel in Dhaka on Saturday to mark the 10th anniversary of Mastercard’s Bangladesh office, celebrated the theme of “Masters of Evolution” and honored top innovators in the banking, payments, and financial services sectors.
Guest of honor Atiur Rahman, Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank, applauded Mastercard’s contributions to the growth of inward remittance and highlighted Bangladesh Bank’s digital transformation efforts towards a cashless society. He emphasized the importance of addressing the limitations of digital literacy among the people.
In line with the Government of Bangladesh’s vision, the Mastercard Excellence Awards recognized organizations that have paved the way for a digitally empowered economy through innovative financial tools and solutions. A total of 44 winners were awarded in 17 categories.
AB Bank, BRAC Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, LankaBangla Finance, Dutch-Bangla Bank, and The City Bank were among the top recipients, each receiving multiple awards.

Mastercard has been operating in Bangladesh since 1991 and became the first global payments operator to establish an office in the country in 2013. The company has forged partnerships with various stakeholders to strengthen the country’s digital ecosystem and promote financial inclusion.
The winning categories included Excellence in Mastercard Business (Merchant)- POS 2022-23, Excellence in Mastercard Business (Merchant)- Online 2022-23, Excellence in Mastercard Digital Business 2022-23, Excellence in Mastercard Debit Business (Domestic) 2022-23, Excellence in Mastercard Debit Business (International) 2022-23, and more.
The Mastercard Excellence Awards 2023 underscore Mastercard’s commitment to recognizing and supporting innovation in Bangladesh’s financial sector, contributing to the country’s progress towards a digitally empowered economy.
