Manikganj police arrested E-valley officials

Manikganj police arrested three people for their alleged involvement in cheating of local people in the name of E-valley online shopping.

The arrested people including Singair upazila manager of E Valley for various charges including not delivering products as per customer demand on time. Police also seized about Tk 39 lakh cash from them.

On Monday (August 24) at noon, a tem of police led by UNO arrested manager Biplob (25) from Evali’s office at Paril Bazar in the upazila.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Runa Laila  said that through Evali’s office, the accused would give the customer more profit and attractive offers of different products. But they had been cheating the customer for several months by not delivering the product on time. They were arrested on the basis of the complaint of the locals. The other two arrested are Babidul Islam (25) and Jamal (38).

According to the accused, they provide various product orders on mobile phones or online from various people under the name of e-commerce site Evali. Under the guise of this, they took around Rs.

In this regard, UNO said, the company has no bank account even though it transacts huge amount of money. They used various digital means of transaction such as development, cash, etc.

A government employee from Manikganj was tempted to pay four lakh rupees in fifteen days by investing four lakh rupees from Paril branch of Evali. The government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said he had left because of the temptation. UNO Runa Laila added that preparations are underway to file a case against the detainees under the existing law.
