Latifur Rahman, chairman of Transcom Group, is no more

Prominent industrialist Transcom Group Chairman Latifur Rahman has passed away (Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilahi Raziun). He died at his home in Comilla’s Chauddagram around 1.30pm on Wednesday (July 1). Latifur Rahman owns the daily Prothom Alo and the English daily Daily Star.

He was involved in Transcom Group’s fast food, soft drinks, electrical and electronic products, pharmaceuticals, newspapers, tea industry, insurance and other businesses. He is the Entrepreneurial Director of National Housing.

Latifur Rahman is an executive member of the Paris-based ICC, vice chairman of ICC Bangladesh and director of BRAC, the world’s largest NGO. He was also the president of MCCI for some time.
