H.M. Imran, Jhenaidah: Illegal structures have been demolished in Shailkupa, Jhenaidah. The Jhenaidah Roads and Highways Department, in the presence of joint forces at Tamaltola Bazar in the upazila, demolished these illegal structures. The demolition drive of these illegal structures, which were built on both sides of the road, began on Saturday (October 18).
Earlier, the Jhenaidah Roads and Highways Department issued a notice to remove illegal structures from the acquired land, including through miking and publishing public notices in newspapers.
The public notice states that illegal structures built on both sides of the road from Sheikhpara Bazar in Shailkupar to Langalbadh Bazar will be demolished.
As part of this, the Roads and Highways Department evicted illegal structures from the acquired land in the Tamaltala Bazar area on Saturday through a mobile court operation.
The mobile court was run by Executive Magistrate Ashfaqul Haque, Estate and Law Officer of Roads and Highways.
Jhenaidah Roads and Highways Executive Engineer Hafizur Rahman, Assistant Engineer and Staff Officer Ahsan-ul-Kabir, Sub-Divisional Engineer Ziauddin, Assistant Engineer(Mechanical) Swajan Islam, Deputy Assistant Engineer Hasan Al Mamun, Deputy Assistant Engineer (Mechanical) Rakibul Islam, Surveyor Sohel Rana, along with teams from the Army, RAB, Police and Fire Service were present at the time.
The vandalized goods were auctioned in an open auction during the eviction drive. 8 people participated in the auction. The Roads and Highways Department sold the vandalized goods to the highest bidder for 1 lakh 35 thousand taka. It is reported that approximately 20 to 25 pucca, semi-pucca and tin shed shops were evicted during this drive.
