Huawei powers up Bangladesh’s renewable energy future with 72+ projects and 132 MW

BM Report:

Huawei cemented its position as a leading force in Bangladesh’s renewable energy sector, delivering over 72 solar power projects and contributing 132 MW of clean energy capacity in 2023. This impressive feat was celebrated at the “Huawei Solar Annual Ceremony 2023” in Dhaka, where high-level representatives from more than 62 EPC partners, distribution companies, and Huawei gathered to mark the remarkable progress.

Among their key achievements are connecting 100 MW to the national grid, a landmark utility project delivering clean energy directly to millions of Bangladeshis; building Bangladesh’s first microgrid, a 22 MWh Energy Storage System (ESS) in Monpura Upazila, showcasing cutting-edge microgrid technology; and empowering homes and businesses with over 72 rooftop solar projects installed across Bangladesh, bringing clean energy closer to everyday life.

“Huawei has been working hand in hand with Bangladesh to generate 40% electricity from renewable energy sources by 2041,” declared Liang Weixing (Jack), Managing Director of Huawei South Asia Digital Power Business Department. “Our diverse project portfolio, from large-scale grid integration to localized microgrids, demonstrates our commitment to supporting Bangladesh’s ambitious renewable energy goals.”

To recognize outstanding contributions, Huawei awarded top partners in various categories. Eighteen EPC companies were lauded for their exceptional project execution, while ten companies received awards for their significant impact on the solar market with Huawei solutions. Two distributors were also recognized for their stellar performance and dedication.

Huawei’s comprehensive solar solutions cater to diverse needs, offering residential and commercial PV and ESS systems, utility-scale PV solutions, and microgrid technology. Their extensive portfolio of solar inverters and green power solutions serve IPPs, rooftops, data centers, and mobile towers, ensuring versatility and adaptability across the renewable energy landscape.

Huawei’s success in Bangladesh exemplifies a deeper commitment to a sustainable future. By providing innovative solar solutions and collaborating with local partners, Huawei empowers communities and drives meaningful change in the nation’s energy landscape. The company’s dedication to clean energy promises a brighter future for Bangladesh, powered by the sun.
