Bangladesh Prime Minister’s Chief Secretary Mohammad Tofazzel Hossain Miah said on Sunday that the government is committed to recruiting qualified and competent teachers for government primary schools in a transparent manner.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Integrated Primary Education Management Information System (IPEMIS) and the foundation stone laying ceremony of six new primary schools in Dhaka, Miah said that the government has taken a number of steps to ensure transparency in the recruitment process, including the use of digital technology and the involvement of independent observers.
“The recruitment process for primary school teachers has been praised by all,” he said. “It has set a precedent for other government recruitment processes.”
Miah also stressed the importance of quality primary education for building a prosperous nation. He said that the government is working to improve the quality of education in primary schools by providing teachers with adequate training and resources.
“We need to focus on classroom education,” he said. “Because the nation is built in the classroom. The future of the country is determined in the classroom.”
Primary and Mass Education Secretary Farid Ahmed said that the government is also committed to using information technology to improve primary education. He said that the government is providing 64,000 multimedia devices and 24,000 laptops to primary schools. Wi-Fi connectivity is also being provided to all primary schools.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and the Directorate of Primary Education.
