BM Desk:
A freight train traveling from Akhaura to Sreemangal derailed near Montola Railway Station in Madhabpur upazila this morning, causing temporary disruption to local train services. The incident occurred around 9:15 am, with the oil-laden train veering off the tracks due to a reported mechanical fault.
While the derailed train temporarily blocked the Akhaura-Sylhet route, Montola Station Master Ataur Rahman Khadem assured that train movement between Sylhet and other parts of the country remains unaffected. Trains are currently using an alternate track to bypass the accident site and maintain normal operations.
Rescue operations are underway to clear the derailed train and restore full functionality to the affected section of the track. No injuries have been reported in the incident.
This derailment highlights the importance of maintaining railway infrastructure and taking preventative measures to ensure the safety of passengers and cargo. Further details about the cause of the derailment and the estimated time for restoring full service are expected to be released by officials shortly.
