BM Desk:

Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC)’s project “Safe Vegetable, Fruit, and Flower Production through Water Efficient Irrigation Technology and Construction of Polished Shades” was approved on Tuesday at the ECNEC meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The total cost of the project to be implemented in 45 upazilas of 21 districts in 6 divisions of the country is about 202 crore taka. The duration of the project is from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2028. If the activities of the project are implemented, it will be possible to produce about 24204.55 million metric tons of food crops and various species of safe, non-toxic flowers, fruits, and vegetables annually through modern irrigation technology and the construction of polished sheds.

Project Focal Point Executive Engineer Mahabub Alam said, “It would be possible to export the safe and poison-free flowers, fruits, and vegetables produced through this project to different countries, which will help commercialize the agricultural system of the country as well as earn foreign currency. Under the direction of Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzak MP, Chairman of the organization Abdullah Sajjad quickly played a role in the approval process of the project.”
