BM Desk:

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Akhtaruzzaman visited the Puja Mandap of Jagannath Hall on Monday evening on the occasion of Sharidiya Durgotsab. University Vice-Chancellor (Education) Prof. ASM Maqsood Kamal, President of Teachers’ Association Prof. Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan, President of Jagannath Hall Public Puja Celebration Committee, and Hall Principal Prof. Mihir Lal Saha, as well as resident teachers and students of the hall, were present.

After visiting the Puja Mandap, Vice-Chancellor Akhtaruzzaman congratulated the people of the Sanatan religion on Sharidiya Durgotsab. He wished everyone happiness, peace, and well-being and said that this Durga Festival is the biggest festival of the Bengali Hindu community. The motto of Sharadiya Durgotsab is destruction of evil forces and worship of truth and beauty.

Mr. Akhtaruzzaman expressed the hope that the Durga Festival, with its non-communal and humanitarian values, would strengthen the bonds of harmony and amity among all, irrespective of caste and religion.

The Vice-Chancellor thanked the traditional Jagannath Hall administration for organizing the Autumn Durga Festival smoothly and peacefully.

The Dhaka University Jagannath Hall Public Puja Celebration Committee organized this public autumn festival last Friday on the premises of the hall. The festival ends on Tuesday with the conclusion of the Vijaya Dashami Puja and the dedication of idols.
