District Administrator’s order on sand and stone extraction in Sylhet

Nurul Sylhet Correspondent:  Newly appointed Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarwar Alam has issued a government order regarding sand and stone extraction in Sylhet.

It was learned on Wednesday (August 27) that the border branch of the Sylhet district administration has strictly prohibited the extraction of sand and stone from various places in Sylhet on Tuesday.

The Deputy Commissioner wrote in his order that since some individuals from the areas bordering Sylhet district are involved in illegal extraction, storage, transportation, looting and smuggling of sand and stones, which are rich in natural resources and tourism potential, and since there is a possibility of natural disasters and damage to areas with tourism potential, the illegal extraction, storage, transportation and sale of sand and stones in Sylhet district has been completely banned. Strict legal action has also been warned against those who disobey the order.
