UK-based education and research institute Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) publishes the world’s best universities ranking every year . 2024 also happened yesterday Tuesday. The ranking of sustainable universities has been published on this day. QS published the list of 1 thousand 397 sustainable universities in the world. Bangladesh has two universities among the top 1000 in the list. Apart from 1000 there are four other universities in Bangladesh.
In the ranking titled ‘QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2024’, Dhaka University has got a place from Bangladesh. But delayed. Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET) is at the bottom of the list.
In the list, Dhaka University is at the top of the ranking from Bangladesh. The second place is followed by the private Daffodil International University. Dhaka University is ranked 637 out of 1000, and Daffodil International University is ranked between 901 and 920. Apart from this, no other public or private university of Bangladesh got a place in the list of 1000.
According to the website of QS, the overall value of the universities has been determined in three indicators in making the ranking. All indicators score 100. A score is created based on the average of the sum of all indicators. Among the three indicators, environmental impact is assigned 45 percent, social impact 45 percent and administrative impact 10 percent.
QS published the ranking for the first time last year. SERB World’s Best Sustainable 700 Universities published its list. Dhaka University and BUET were ranked in it. In this list of services, the position of Dhaka University was 551-600 and BUET was above 601. Apart from this, no other public or private university of Bangladesh got a place in last year’s ‘QS World
University Rankings: Sustainability 2023′ list.
In ‘QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2024’, 6 universities of Bangladesh have been ranked in this year’s ranking. There are four universities out of 1000 in the list. Among them, the private North South University is between 1,151 and 1,200. Then Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Bangladesh Agricultural University and BUET are above 1 thousand 200. However, this time the specific position of the universities after 1001 has not been disclosed.
