Debonair and Orbitex Knitwear Limited – once a small garment factory Monday awarded Platinum ratings from The United States Green Building Council (USGBC) due its focus on compliance on good governance.
Debonair Group, has its production capacity to over 2 million pcs garments a month with employing over 16,000 workers as well export to over 40 country’s has set an example of good corporate practice.
Debonair Group is a 100% export oriented private company integrated in high value Outwear and Homeware products. Company started its journey since 1991 and established its way towards sustainability vision in 2020. The USGBC was also recognised three more readymade garment factories in Bangladesh as green – raising the total number of environment-friendly establishments in the apparel sector to 171.
Bangladesh is the global leader having the highest number of green garment buildings, where 53 are platinum rated, 104 gold rated, 10 silver, and four have no rating but are certified.
The council honours factories based on several criteria – transformation performance, energy, water, waste management. The best performers are rated with platinum, followed by gold and silver.
