BM Desk : On Wednesday, the National Consensus Commission (NCC) will meet with political parties in order to make a final decision regarding the National Constitutional Council (NCC).
Prof. Ali Riaz, Vice-Chairman of the National Consensus Commission, made the remarks at the beginning of the second day of the commission’s second round of discussions, which were conducted at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital.
We’ll talk about the District Coordination Council today. A number of alternate proposals surfaced during the Constitution Reform Commission’s initial phase of deliberations. On this matter, we anticipate making great strides today. If we can get a consensus on the NCC today, I will be extremely happy. That would be really helpful for our future efforts,” he said.
“The most critical problem is to develop a consensus through consultations with all stakeholders before making any choices,” Professor Riaz continued. We have a limited amount of time. We have to finalize a national charter by the middle of July, following which all parties must sign it.
In order to guarantee the effectiveness of the conference, he also asked the political figures in attendance to refrain from repetition during discussions.
The National Constitutional Council (NCC), the presidential election, and completing outstanding discussions are on today’s agenda.
Talks will resume tomorrow (Thursday, June 19), according to the National Consensus Commission.
Several political parties participated in the negotiations, including the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, NCP, Islami Andolan, Nagorik Oikko, Gan Adhikar Parishad, and Gan Songhoti Andolon.
