On the occasion of National Mourning Day, Bankers Welfare Club Bangladesh (BWCB) organized a discussion on ‘Economic and Banking Philosophy of Bangabandhu’, on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall at the National Press Club.
As the chief guest, AHM Mostafizur Rahman said, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman made many plans for the economic liberation of Bengalis. He took the initiative to provide food, clothing, education, treatment and accommodation. He could not implement the programs in just three and a half years; But Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangabandhu’s daughter, continues to fulfill her father’s dream.
The keynote speaker Ratan Siddiqui said, Every country has a leader who controls a nation. Bangabandhu reached seven and a half million people. The people of the area where he was born used to fight for life. Bangabandhu himself saw that suffering. So he worked for the economic liberation of Bengalis.
Former Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank Main Uddin Ahmed, Forest and Environment Affairs Secretary of Bangabandhu Parishad Central Committee Md. Neshar Ahmed Bhuiyan, Member Secretary of National Mourning Day Observance Committee Abdul Hamid Sohag discussed among others.
The event was conducted by Md. Anwarul Islam Khandkar, convener of National Mourning Day Committee and Joint Secretary of Bankers Welfare Club Bangladesh and Md. Mukitul Kabir. General Secretary of Bankers Welfare Club Bangladesh Lion Hamidul Alam Sakha delivered the welcome speech.
In the speech of the chair, Tapas Chandra Pal said that skilled workers in the banking sector will protect the economy of Bangladesh. After the independence of the country in 1971, Bangladesh Bank had no money in its reserves. The western regime has taken all the spoils. Bangabandhu planned to organize the country’s economy on the basis of cooperatives. Bangabandhu’s daughter continues to carry out her father’s adoration.
