BMCCI delegation meets BIDA chief to promote Malaysian investment in BD

The Board of Directors of the Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) led by President Shabbir Ahmed Khan, met with Lokman Hossain Miah, Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) on Thursday to discuss key issues promoting Malaysian investment in Bangladesh.

Mr. Miah expressed appreciation for BMCCI’s efforts and highlighted Bangladesh’s remarkable economic journey under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s leadership. He emphasized Bangladesh’s transformation from one of the world’s poorest nations to a thriving economy, now enjoying “developed country” status and attracting global attention.

To further enhance investor confidence, Mr. Miah highlighted initiatives like the “One Stop Service” platform streamlining investment processes and attractive incentives like tax exemptions. He assured the delegation of the government’s commitment to improving the investment climate and addressing challenges swiftly.

BMCCI President Mr. Khan stressed the immense potential for Malaysian investors in Bangladesh, citing the chamber’s 24-year track record of fostering bilateral trade and investment. He urged BIDA’s support in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) and creating a more conducive investment environment.

Secretary General Mr. Md. Motaher Hoshan Khan echoed Mr. Khan’s sentiments, underlining the importance of attracting Malaysian investment and fostering a business-friendly environment for trade growth.

Mr. Miah expressed appreciation for the BMCCI delegation’s valuable insights and requested specific proposals for improvement. He assured them of BIDA’s commitment to addressing their concerns with utmost importance.

The meeting concluded with the BMCCI delegation reaffirming their dedication to promoting an investment-friendly environment and strengthening economic ties between Bangladesh and Malaysia. This collaborative effort is expected to unlock further opportunities for Malaysian investors in Bangladesh’s promising economy.
