BMCC hosts World Matchbox and Label Exhibition

BM Desk:

Bangladesh Matchbox Collectors Club (BMCC) organized the World Matchbox and Label Exhibition for the first time in the country recently. This exhibition was held for three days at Banglamator’s Biswa Sahitya Kendra, Dhaka.

The event also included a seminar on the history of safety match (deslai) and the proper collection of safety match conducted by world-famous safety match collector Mr. David Figg, President of the Australian MatchCover Collectors Society (AMCCS). This seminar was organized to provide guidance to new collectors. A question-and-answer session was held at the end of the seminar, where participants had the opportunity to directly ask David Figg about the safety match, the chief guest of the program. Chris Haim was present as a special guest.

The president of the club, Sakil Haque, said, “BMCC often organizes national and international exhibitions. We have organized international exhibitions before, but they were all virtual. This time, we organized this international safety match exhibition in person, where both the collectors and the safety match were present.

Secretary General of BMCC, Russell Rahman Shimul, said Shahjalal Islami Bank Plc has been assisting us in various ways for a long time. If other public and private institutions also come forward like that, we will be able to organize such international exhibitions on a larger scale in the coming days.

BMCC started its journey in 2016 as an international safety match collector in the world.
