The knitwear manufacturing and export industry in Bangladesh is gaining strength by exploring opportunities in Europe. Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Germany’s Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade (BWA) to foster collaboration in this regard. The signing ceremony was held in Berlin, Germany, on Monday.
This move will help recognize the immense possibilities of promoting economic and commercial cooperation between the business bodies in Germany and Bangladesh under joint ventures. It will boost the country’s economic development, trade relations, and various initiatives aimed at advancing the knitwear business.
Urs Unkauf, Federal Managing Director of BWA in Germany, and Fazlee Shamim Ehsan, Vice President of BKMEA, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides.
During the signing, Vice President of BKMEA Fazlee Shamim Ehsan said that this collaboration will help both associations share knowledge and go in positive directions.
On the other hand, Michael Schumann, BWA Board Chairman, thanks BKMEA for the signing and wishes business relations between two esteemed organizations will be strengthened, which will help members smooth the business.
BWA is present in 80 countries, with the majority of the embassies situated in Berlin being members of the organization.
BKMEA Executive President Mohammad Hatem expected that this MOU would ameliorate the future of Bangladesh’s knitwear industry and its exports to Germany.
Mr. Tapan wishes, senior secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, that “through this partnership, both BKMEA and BWA Germany are poised to create a win-win situation that benefits the economies of two countries, the knitwear industry, and the bilateral relationship between two countries.”
Mr. Saiful, Minister (Commercial), closed the ceremony with a vote of thanks. A team of BKMEA delegation members along with Tapan Kanti Ghosh, the senior secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, visited Berlin, Germany, to attend a meeting with the federal association for economic development and foreign trade. And representatives from BKMEA were Mohammad Hatem, the Executive President; Fazlee Shamim Ehsan, Vice President; Mohammad Rashed; Amal Podder; and Md. Shamsuzzaman. The concept of this partnership was initiated by Md. Saiful Islam, Minister (Commercial), from the Bangladesh Embassy in Berlin.
