The Animal Health Companies Association of Bangladesh (AHCAB) successfully concluded its 5th AHCAB International Expo 2023, a three-day event that showcased the latest technological advancements in animal and aqua farm management. Held at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from November 30 to December 2, 2023, the expo attracted a diverse audience from various sectors, providing a platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and business opportunities.
The event garnered significant support from the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Fisheries & Livestock, demonstrating the government’s commitment to promoting sustainable and efficient animal and aqua farming practices. Over 215 companies from various countries, including Bangladesh, Egypt, Germany, India, Poland, South Korea, Romania, Thailand, and Vietnam, participated in the expo, showcasing their innovative products and services that contribute to ensuring the supply of safe and high-quality animal proteins to meet both local and international demands.
In addition to highlighting technological advancements, the expo addressed critical challenges related to disease prevention and control, animal rearing practices, and the sustainable management of pet animals. The event featured expert presentations, panel discussions, and interactive workshops, providing valuable insights to farmers, investors, entrepreneurs, students, scientists, professionals, and representatives from business entities.
The opening ceremony of the expo was inaugurated by Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan MP, emphasizing the importance of technological innovation in driving growth and sustainability in the animal and aqua farming sectors. Dr. Nahid Rashid, Fisheries & Livestock Secretary, attended as the special guest, highlighting the government’s initiatives to support the development of these sectors.
The event also featured two key-note papers: “Smart Bangladesh: Contribution of Livestock, Challenges and Opportunities” and “Potential of fisheries sector to adopt smart technologies for building Smart Bangladesh.” These presentations explored the potential of technology to revolutionize the animal and aqua farming sectors, aligning with Bangladesh’s vision of becoming a ‘Smart Bangladesh’ by 2041.
The AHCAB International Expo played a significant role in advancing the animal and aqua farming sectors in Bangladesh, contributing to increased productivity, improved animal welfare, and enhanced food security. The event provided a platform for stakeholders to connect, share knowledge, and explore new opportunities, paving the way for a more sustainable and prosperous future for these sectors.
