Agrani Bank’s defaulting borrower arrested

State-owned Agrani Bank is taking strict legal action to recover defaulted loans. Recently, Syed Abdullah Nasir, the owner of Noor Apparels Limited, a defaulting borrower company of the bank’s Wasa Corporate Branch, Dhaka, was arrested.

Agrani Bank has filed a lawsuit (07/2020) in the financial court of Dhaka with the aim of collecting Tk 6.5 crore from the company. In that case, the court issued an arrest warrant on May 28, 2023, under Section 34(1) of the Money Debt Court Act 2003. In view of this, on September 28, Hazaribagh police arrested Syed Abdullah Nasir, the owner of Noor Apparels, and sent him to jail.
