Ashraf Ahmed, the president of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), has pushed Armenia to hire Bangladeshi IT and infrastructure professionals.
Mr. Ahmed met with a four-member delegation from Enterprise Armenia at DCCI in the city led by Armenian Deputy Minister of the Economy Narek Teryan, reads a press release.
“A large number of Bangladeshi skilled workers, especially in the IT and infrastructure sectors, have been working successfully in the Middle East and Southeast Asia,” he stated.
During the meeting, Ashraf Ahmed said that Armenia can also explore the skilled manpower of these sectors from Bangladesh.
“Bangladesh in the recent past has been doing very well in the IT sector and our IT professionals can be a potential resource for Armenia as well. In comparison with Armenia, in terms of population, Bangladesh possesses a large consumer base for any product,” he added.
Ashraf later invited the Armenian investors to invest here to reap the benefit of our demographic dividend.
He also said that discussions may be held at G2G level between these two friendly countries to find out the possibilities of signing FTA or PTA.
Moreover, to increase the bilateral trade and investment both-way investment of the banking sector may usher in a new window of opportunities, the DCCI chief added.
Narek Teryan said that for their future large infrastructure projects they may need a large amount of manpower for the infrastructure sector.
He also appreciated the recent progress of Bangladesh’s IT sector and expressed their interest in recruiting skilled IT professionals from Bangladesh.
Narek also said that establishing joint Chambers would foster bilateral trade and investment more.
He informed that Armenia has already FTAs with CIS countries, Vietnam, Singapore and Serbia and CEPA with EU.
Bangladesh can reap the benefit out of it, Narek added.
Later, he termed High-tech & IT, smart agriculture, food processing, tourism, textile, pharmaceuticals and shoes as the most potential sectors for Bangladeshi investors in Armenia.
DCCI Senior Vice President Malik Talha Ismail Bari and Vice President Junaid Ibn Ali were present during the meeting.
