On January 23, 2024, the Minister of Education of Bangladesh, Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, met with the French Ambassador to Bangladesh, Marie Masdupuy, at the Ministry of Education in Dhaka.
The two officials discussed a range of education-related issues, including the possibility of France providing assistance to Bangladesh in the areas of secondary education, higher education, and language training.
Ambassador Masdupuy expressed France’s interest in helping Bangladesh to improve its education system. She proposed that the two countries work together to introduce French language instruction at the secondary level.
She also expressed interest in supporting the development of French language courses at Bangladeshi universities.
In response, Mr. Chowdhury noted that France is a leading member of the European Union and the United Nations Security Council.
He also praised France’s support for Bangladesh’s independence struggle.
Dr. Chowdhury said that France has a strong track record of excellence in mathematics education and aviation. He suggested that Bangladeshi universities with a focus on these areas could collaborate with French institutions.
The two officials also discussed the possibility of increasing the number of scholarships offered by France to Bangladeshi students.
The meeting was seen as a positive step towards strengthening the educational ties between Bangladesh and France.
